Torticollis, or wryneck, is a stiff neck associated with muscle spasm, classically causing lateral flexion contracture of the cervical spine musculature (a condition in which the head is tilted to one side). The muscles affected are principally those supplied by the spinal accessory nerve.(wikipedia)
Ellie was diagnosed last week with torticollis. Emma had torticollis and after a few months she was back to normal. We are hoping to have the same results with Ellie.
Ellie has less of a head tilt then Emma, but her body is more shifted then Emma. This is our big concern. Ellie will go to a weekly therapy session, and all other stretching will be done by us at home.
I will be sure to keep everyone posted. These next few weeks are going to be hard. I remember Emma crying through the whole hour, and I am sure Ellie will be no different.
Pete
We had a hard loss yesterday. Pete had been missing for a few days, and we all thought he had run off somewhere and would return. He had wanted out that night to go lay down and sleep forever.
I remember when we got him, he cost $45 dollars and was supposed to be a chihuahua. He was no bigger then my hand. I took him home and he just slept everywhere. His favorite way to sleep was on his back with his feet in the air. He grew to be a very playful dog. JW and Chase would chase him around, and he was always frisky after baths. I loved the way he would growl when you acted like you were going to thump him. I also miss his kisses even though he sometimes didn't know when to quit.
Pete lived the good life and was WELL taken care of by my parents. Plenty of car rides, good food, his own furniture, and treats. We know he can never be replaced. He was truly one of a kind.

Radio
This month Josh and I were able to do an interview for a radio segment on Growing Pains. It can be heard on this link http://ktsw.txstate.edu/news/ipi.html. Then click on the play button next to Growing Pains. Our interview starts at 23 mins. It was really interesting to be apart of this and to see what goes into making a piece for the radio. Our friend Hady did a great job!

Three!!
Emma turns 3 tomorrow! What a wonderful adventure so far. Emma is always showing us something new, and teaching us things. I am amazed every day by her beauty, humor, and intelligence. We are very thankful to have Emma in our lives. She is becoming a great big sister, and learning how to be a big girl. Here are some things that we have learned in the last year with Emma.
1.) You can have Chicken and Fries for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
2.) She is not baby, honey, kiddo, or adorable. As she puts it "No, I Emma."
3.) Princess band aids make everything better.
4.) In the ABCs, B is there twice. V is not.
5.) Emma is a toy tornado. Taz has nothing on her!
6.) When having photos taken of her, she must strike a pose. :)
7.) Dinosaur park... Aunt T is going to take her there.
We look forward to another year with Emma. Wonder what this next year will have in store for us!
Ellie has arrived!
We are so happy! Ellie, Elizabeth Denise, was born 6/7/11 at 9lbs 1oz and 20 inches long. It was a very momentous day and one we will never forget. These first few days with her have been amazing. Emma seems to really love her new baby sister. With kisses and touches I see her love. I am sure we will run into some difficult moments, but I look forward to seeing them grow together.
Ellie is a typical newborn that sleeps, eats and uses the potty. She is super sweet and looks just like Josh! Ellie has cute face crinkles and loves to stretch out. We are anxious to see what each new day brings to our family.
We are finally a complete family of four. Josh and I have reached one of goals in life. Now to conquer the rest!!!
March
The year is going well. Josh and I get closer and closer to having the apartment prepared for Ellie. At 28 weeks we are growing! Ellie is very active in there and the doctors say she is right on course. This Thursday I get to do the wonderful glucose test. The only thing I worry about is the taste of that orange drink. Yuck! My tummy seems to be getting bigger everyday and I am actually now feeling the weight of this little girl. I keep telling myself only 12 weeks left!
We have been able to still be active with Emma. She is running full steam ahead all the time! Josh and her enjoy playing disc golf on their days off together. We took her to the Zilker Kite Festival on the 6th and had a lot of fun. She enjoys going to all the parks and riding trains. We have a small amusement park next to us called Kiddie acres with a train, carousel, pony rides, and other attractions. I think she finds it hard to choose between the ponies and the train so we usually ride both. We are in potty training world here, and still have some accidents. We hope that she will be 100% big girl panties in a short time. Our latest outing took us to a restaurant called Iron Cactus for live music on Friday. Emma and I enjoyed dancing and she made some friends on the dance floor. All of us are looking forward to the warmer weather and maybe some places like Sea World, Schlitterbahn and the pool.
Josh and I are planning a little getaway at the end of March to Fredricksburg. We are looking forward to relaxing, shopping and good food. I think I look forward to the food more then him! Josh and I will also celebrate 8 years of being married in May. I think we will have a low key anniversary this year, and just go out to eat.
The Haar family has so many things to look forward to this year, arrival of Ellie, my 10 year high school reunion, Josh and my 8th wedding anniversary and all the fun we plan to have. We always think fondly of our family and look forward to hearing from everyone. Hope you are all well.
